last week was a killer. it was my first week back at work from medical leave and everything felt out of alignment. my body and spirit were not at their best. outside of the lingering side effects of chemo, something else had me down.
i didn’t make time to write.
writing clears my mind and puts everything from small daily tasks to big goals into perspective. plus, having a daily journal habit makes me feel better. it’s been a key part of my self-care practice since before i understood the importance of self-care.

ever notice once you write shit down it’s not that bad? to-do lists, goals and challenges all seem less difficult on paper. plus, journaling is a great way to enhance your mindfulness and self-awareness.
journaling everyday can be tough. what do you write about? how long is it supposed to be? what if your handwriting is bad? the truth is none of these things matter. your journal is YOURS and only exists to make you feel like the badass that you are.
10 easy prompts to boost your daily journal habit
1. gratitude list: create a list of 5-10 things you’re grateful for each day.
2. daily keep/change: what are things you’d keep and change about the day.
3. goals check-in: take time to map your progress on long and short term goals.
4. things i love about me: make a running list of all of your best attributes.
5. dream book: write about all the things that come to you in your dreams.
6. mood tracker: on a scale of 1 to 10 rate your moods each day and write about them.
7. happiness list: write about all the things that make you happy.
8. vision list: write about the life you want with very specific details. use this to guide daily visioning sessions where you visualize your dreams.
9. love letter to yourself: this can be a great confidence booster and tool to get rid of negative thoughts.
10. challenges and solutions: write out the challenges that run through your mind daily and ways to solve them.
This is really cool. Apart from blog posts, church message notes and impromptu note-taking of things i need to do or when inspiration flows, I’v never thought of writing stuff like this. Thanks for sharing..
