Get Ready for the 2018 Happiness Project

it’s finally here! our 2018 happiness project will take place september 1-21, and i can’t wait. first, let me hip you to happiness projects.

Get Ready for the 2018 Happiness Project

What’s a Happiness Project?

happiness projects stem from gretchen rubin’s best-selling book, the happiness project.  in the book, she dedicates a full year to joy with each month hosting a different theme.

the dopest part about gretchen’s journey is that she wasn’t unhappy when she started. she saw her life as tremendously blessed, but felt like something was missing. raise your hand if you can relate.

using the book as my foundation, i’ve launched a 21 day happiness project that challenges participants to dedicate three weeks to their joy and self-care. all you have to do is make a commitment to do one thing a day that brings you joy. like gretchen, unhappiness isn’t a requirement to participate, just a willingness to live life more intentionally.

it’s that simple.

Why Joy?

someone once asked me how i know so much about happiness.  my response: because i know so much about pain.

i was recovering from surgery during the first year of my happiness project. i had to have an emergency hysterectomy after several failed surgeries to save my uterus. a happiness project was the best investment that i could give myself during such a difficult time physically and emotionally.

releasing negative thoughts and focusing on joy encouraged me to cancel my pity party. despite the shitty circumstances, i made it through. in fact, with better health, i thrived.

then came breast cancer.

right before last year’s project, i felt a lump in my right breast.  as a matter of fact, i wrote about it in this post. ironically, i thought i was all clear and didn’t have cancer. my doctor called the day after the happiness project ended to say i had “well-differentiated invasive ductal carcinoma” aka breast cancer.

Thank God for favor.

i’m so grateful that i spent 21 days dedicated to my joy before being diagnosed with breast cancer. that commitment saved my life.

little did i know, those 21 days were investments. just like saving financially,  i saved for my emotional well-being and found myself needing ever single good vibe that i’d collected during my project. as a result, i never doubted my ability to fight and win against such a nasty disease.

my positive outlook helped heal me.

if you’re ready to invest in yourself by centering joy, then our 21 day happiness project is for you.
