everyone knows i love a weekend getaway. i’m from the rural south, so spending time outside the city makes me feel right at home.
one of my favorite places on the east coast is bath county, virginia. it’s only four hours away from washington, d.c. and feels like a dream.

best known for its natural hot springs, bath county is a sleepy place with rolling hills. this time of year, the leaves start to change colors and the air feels crisp.
onrae and i visit yearly to connect and unplug. it’s kinda our tradition. for the second year, we had the pleasure of staying at the inn at gristmill square during our trip.
the inn at gristmill square
located in warm springs, va, the gristmill gives “cozy” a new meaning. the property spans several houses with guest accommodations and a restaurant. we stayed in the steele house this trip and fell in love.
the best part is each guesthouse has a unique feel. it’s a bed & breakfast, so you can count on a charming, rustic decor.
the staff treated us with so much care until it was unreal. i couldn’t stop smiling when we opened the front door and found champagne, fresh fruit and cheese just for us.
i’m not kidding when i say we slept better at the gristmill than in our own bed. the hotel’s king-size bed was super comfortable, and the property is quiet as a mouse. on our second day, i grabbed a bottle of wine, sat by the stream and just chilled.
of course, it wouldn’t be a bed & breakfast without a bomb breakfast. i could eat their chocolate and raspberry croissants everyday, all day. everything was so good until i didn’t even get to snap a picture before only crumbs were left.
stay tuned for my upcoming post, 5 things to do in bath county, where i’ll share a review of the gristmill’s restaurant. for now, just know it’s delicious with a wine cellar that’ll give you all the feels.
make plans to visit bath county this fall and book your stay at the inn at gristmill square. tell them i said, hey girl hey!
