i posted a picture wearing my gucci loafers with fishnet socks on instagram and took a poll. i asked folks if they’d want to learn more about mixing trends with basics and many of you said yes (thanks for following me btw!). i pulled together the list below with comfort and ease in mind. overall, don’t overthink it!
top 5 tips for weaving trends into your wardrobe
stick to the basics: wearing trends shouldn’t feel forced or haphazard. build trends around key pieces in your wardrobe. denim, basic tops and your favorite handbag are all items that can be worn year after year. if you pop a trend into a classic look, then it looks effortless.

do your googles: i recommend consulting dr. google if you’re stuck on what’s trending right now. google images, pinterest, chictopia and blogs like politics and fashion are great resources. just scroll through to find the latest trends that pique your interest.
don’t wear it if you don’t like it: you should never feel pressure to put anything on your body. just because the interwebs (including this blog) says it’s cool, doesn’t mean that it has to be for you. there are plenty of trends that i hate and don’t wear. for example, if you see me rocking gingham, check my temperature.

make it your own: no amount of trendy items can make up for personal style. use trends to enhance your signature look and not the other way around.
be intentional: you probably don’t need to buy everything a mannequin is wearing. after you’ve looked for inspiration for the season’s trends, make a wishlist or vision board. when you’re ready to start purchasing pieces, you’ll have carefully curated your look and can shop with intention.
we snapped these photos last weekend and i’m wearing what seems to be my uniform lately. denim, a white shirt and a moto jacket. what’s fun about this look are the vintage levi’s that i cropped by snipping the hemline. add the edginess of a pair of heels, and it’s one of my favorite looks of all time.
