Living as a Breast Cancer Survivor: My Favorite Healers

Living as a Breast Cancer Survivor: My Favorite Healers

it’s been over a year since i was diagnosed with breast cancer and exactly 12 months since my surgery. my diagnosis still seems surreal. however, living as a breast cancer survivor has given me time to reflect on the healers that changed my life.

at 35, i was diagnosed with early stage well-differentiated invasive ductal carcinoma. i’m blessed because if you gotta have breast cancer, you wanna have this type — contained and slow to spread. my surgeon performed a lumpectomy, sometimes called a partial masectomy on october 17, 2017.

praise God for God because a year later, and i’m still cancer-free.

looking back, i’m so grateful that i surrounded myself with healers while going through treatment. i’d been on a self-care journey prior to my diagnosis that led to folks dedicated to mental, physical and spiritual wellness. they kept me lifted at the time i needed it the most.

i’ve put together a list of my favorite healers who continue to play an important role in my overall wellness. i’m not a doctor or mental health clinician; however, i can attest to services that made a difference in my life.

if you or someone you know is struggling through cancer, please share and use this list as a resource. even if you haven’t experienced cancer, any one of these amazing people will provide an invaluable resource to your life.
