The Best Treatments for Oily Skin

The Best Treatments for Oily Skin

i woke up three weeks ago and something changed.  all of a sudden my typical skincare routine threw up its hands and left me oily as hell.

since i’m wearing more makeup these days, oily skin has to go.  nobody has time to look like a popeye’s drumstick wearing mac makeup’s studiofix and a red lip. nobody.

while moisturizers are super important, the trick to controlling oil is a good mask. facial masks can help draw out impurities, treat blemishes and fight acne. thankfully, osea, my favorite natural skincare line, has the perfect mask for oily skin.

  1. drink more water – when our bodies are dehydrated, so is our skin.  folks with oily skin have the pleasure of producing too much oil when their skin is dry. for this reason, drinking water is imperative to keep excess sebum (oil) production away. i’ve started using the plant nanny app to help track my water intake each day.
  2. moisturize for your life – moisturizer is like applying water to your skin. i’ve started using a night cream to really seal in the moisture while i’m sleeping. i know it may sound counterintuitive, but repeat after me: OILY SKIN NEEDS MOISTURE.
  3. use a good mask – a good skin mask can change your life. they are critical treatments in our skincare routines, especially problematic skin.  my favorite mask for detoxifying my skin and drawing out excess oil is the black algae flash mask by osea.

osea is a non-toxic vegan skincare company that makes bomb products. i’m a fan of all things osea not just their skincare.  their bath and body products are amazing too.

thankfully, osea’s black algae flash mask has turned my oily skin around.

the highly-active mask contains ingredients like fig, pineapple, pumpkin, jojoba beads and organic algae. these ingredients work to exfoliate your skin, reduce impurities, replenish moisture and minimize signs of aging.

only three weeks into my new skincare regimen, and my face has a great glow with or without makeup. what i love most is the ability to wear foundation without having to blot my face every hour.

overall, oily skin is a blessing because it tends to age better. however, it can also be a curse for some of us who aren’t quite ready for that benefit.  instead of washing your face with a bunch of harsh scrubs and cleansers give the three steps above a try to control excess oil.
