50th anniversary of the march on washington

this weekend will mark a historic event in american history — the 50th anniversary of the march on washington.  the march, organized by civil rights, labor and religious organizations, called for jobs, freedom and an end to human rights abuses like segregation.  during this march, on august 28, 1963, dr. martin luther king jr. delivered his famous i have a dream speech. march-washington-final-postcardwhile i’m not an al sharpton supporter (he’s one of the organizers of the anniversary march) this moment is so much bigger than political posturing and alliances.  if you’re in dc this weekend, come pay homage to our elders and ancestors who fought tirelessly for oppressed people’s liberation.
