Five Reasons Why You'll Love the Graduate Hotel

i’m having a very busy summer. we’ve already traveled to six cities and at least two more are on the calendar before the end of august. no complaints over here though — this time last summer, i found a lump in my right breast that turned out to be breast cancer.

so summer 2018, get ready.

after months of cancer treatment and recovery, your girl is in these streets. one of my favorite places to visit just outside d.c. is richmond, virginia.

my love for richmond runs deep, and you can read about why in this post. during my most recent visit, we shopped, enjoyed carytown and relaxed at the graduate hotel.

Five Reasons Why You’ll Love the Graduate Richmond

  1. the vibe is cool AF. the aesthetic has a retro flair down to the vintage bikes out front. it feels like an episode of an 70’s television show where all the characters wear tweed suits and sip moscow mules.
  2. the rooftop pool and bar is a great place to chill. if you think richmond doesn’t have a nightlife you’re wrong. the graduate has a new rooftop pool and bar that’s a great place to grab a bite to eat or cocktail. the views are pretty dope too since the hotel boasts 15 floors.
  3. you can play your favorite childhood games. omg do you remember pac man and donkey kong?! old school video games are my jam, especially since i can’t play any gaming system past a super nintendo. the graduate has a ping pong table, connect four, board games and video games for the child at heart.  also, on july 14th they’re hosting a napoleon impersonator for bastille day. Five Reasons Why You'll Love the Graduate Richomond
  4. the food is delicious. i kept it simple for breakfast with an almond milk cafe au lait and pastry, but the menus look outstanding.  brookfield cafe is the cute coffee shop on the first floor, while byrdhouse on the rooftop has bigger bites and great cocktails.
  5. you can walk to all the fun on broad street. richmond’s newly revitalized broad street is a great place to walk, shop and sightsee. historically, it was the heart of the city and a thriving commercial corridor. it’s been revitalized into an emerging arts hub, hosting several galleries, local artists and the quirk hotel.

you can’t have a favorite weekend getaway without a favorite place to stay. the graduate checks all the boxes to be our home away from home.  stop by during your next trip to richmond and tell them i said, “hey girl hey!”
