Join My Fight to #SlayCancerNow

i have breast cancer. that’s really hard to say. can you believe i got the diagnosis the day after our 21 day happiness project ended? praises for unknowingly setting myself up with three weeks of wellness to dampen such shitty news.

it’s called well-differentiated invasive ductal carcinoma, and the silver lining is we caught it pretty early. thank god.

onrae and i have decided to document the journey.  politics & fashion has been my virtual home for six years — how could i not? what’s most important is that someone learns from my story. women must get routine mammograms (earlier than 40 if you have a history of breast cancer in your family) and do monthly breast checks.

black women tend to be diagnosed with breast cancer at younger ages and are 42% more likely to die from the disease than their white counterparts. check your titties sisters.

i found mine in the shower and took it serious af.  my mom currently has breast cancer, and i wasn’t playing games.

i released this video on my mom’s last day of treatment for a reason. she’s surviving with god’s grace, and i know that i’ll do the same.  spiritually, we believe her journey was ordained to help me get through mine. how blessed am i?

cancer won’t win, and i need you to join my tribe of warriors ready to help kick its ass. i’m using the hashtag #slaycancernow to remind me of something very important: 1.) we’re about to give cancer that work and 2.) we’ll stay fly through it all.

#fuckcancer (excuse my language but it’s so relevant).

Gotta admit, a wave of sadness came over me while watching your video but I quickly ‘man up’ when you stated that’s not the kinda vibes you want while going through this. So I’m sending all of the positive vibes your way. You’ll definitely #slaycancernow.
