james and grace lee boggs are a rare breed. sociopolitical theoreticians, they worked for decades as community organizers in detroit. james passed away in the early 1990s while grace lee, age 96, continues in the struggle to create what they termed the human revolution.
“…we, the american people, have been profoundly damaged by a culture that for over two hundred years has systematically pursued economic development at the expense of communities and of millions of people at home and abroad. our challenge is to continue the evolution of the human race by grappling with the contradiction between our technological and economic overdevelopment and our human and political underdevelopment.”
